Albion to Atlas
Known as the “Gateway to Africa” by early explorers, Morocco and Britain have a friendship that has lasted over 800 years. Inkeeping with the spirit of friendship and sustainable adventures that the #WeTwo Foundation was founded upon, this year’s expedition will see us finding 10 underprivileged young people (aged 16-19) to journey by train, ferry and foot from the UK in the footsteps of the ancient caravans, to explore the Sahara with the Berber, help build a vital link for a local community in the Atlas Mountains and, as the finale, climb Mt Toubkal – the highest peak in North Africa.
This comes after the unrivalled success of the ground-breaking City to Sea expedition to Antarctica in November 2022, and the In Darwin’s Footsteps expedition to the Galapagos which saw adventurers Dwayne Fields and Phoebe Smith take 10 underprivileged youngsters from across the British Isles to experience a life-changing adventure. They are now looking for the next cohort from across the UK to journey with them to Morocco. Can you help us change the face of adventure and help your local community? Nominate a young person today.
The Trip
The team will meet in London on September 27th 2026 and depart by train from St Pancras International bound for Europe.

We whizz through Paris by train bound for Barcelona. After overnighting there, we continue on to Rewilding Europe’s project in the Alto Tajo Natural Park where we hope to see Przewalski’s horses – the last of the truly wild horse species. From there we continue on to Seville and Tarifa where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Here we board our ferry to Morocco arriving in Tangier where we catch a sleeper train to Marrakech.
The next week will be spent teambuilding and working on our life skills through hiking – both in gorges and the Sahara – including a desert camp with the Berbers, meeting local social initiatives supporting women and volunteering at a small village in the High Atlas to get our hands dirty helping construct a vital link for the entire community.
The finale will see our young people challenging themselves both physically and mentally, with a climb to the summit of Toubkal – the highest mountain in North Africa. We will arrive back in the UK on morning of 10 October in London.
We will be working with B-Corp certified Intrepid Travel. Intrepid off-set the CO2 emissions from the trip themselves via a handful of environmental projects around the world, but the #WeTwo Foundation and our young people will be working again with Kew Gardens and the Scouts to remove even more carbon over their lifetimes.
All insurance will be provided by True Traveller – specialists in insuring adventurous travellers.

Medical Needs
The #WeTwo team leaders hold up-to-date enhanced DBS checks, and Level 3 Wilderness First Aid certificates. All guides will be first aid trained. There will be access to medical facilities in Morocco and enroute in Europe, but do note some activities will take part (supervised) some distance away from urban centres. Our Travel Insurance covers emergency evacuation. If a young person has any ongoing medical conditions they will need to be screened prior to their acceptance on the expedition.
Filming Consent
The entire experience – from being selected, to paying it forward through community initiatives, journeying to Morocco, undertaking all activities and follow ups back in the UK post-expedition will be filmed and it is assumed that all participants and their parents/guardians consent to this and their image appearing on any promotional material, documentaries and broadcasts (worldwide) in perpetuity.
Nominations – Close at Midnight on Sunday, 7 June 2026.
The team are seeking nominations from teachers, social workers, parents, guardians and friends from across Britain for young person from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part. They are seeking people who are driven, passionate, and who want to make a difference, not just in their own lives but for the communities in which they live.
This trip would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors:
